Primary Years Programme
Six to 10-year-olds at the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka learn and play in their dedicated Junior School area. They learn to apply their knowledge to real-world situations, develop independent and collaborative working habits and develop a sense of community.
The Junior School
Our Junior School’s facilities have been designed with the needs of younger children in mind. Alongside the multipurpose classrooms, your child has access to a library, music, art and information technology rooms, a well-equipped playground and large playing fields.
The Curriculum
Primary students take the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme, or IB PYP, which covers their social, physical, cultural and ethical development. Our teachers take an interactive, student-centred approach, helping to create independent, confident and respectful learners.
Your child will gain a strong foundation in English language, mathematics, social studies, science and technology, computing, physical education, music, art and Bangla. Throughout their studies, they will cover six transdisciplinary themes:
- Who we are
- Where we are in place and time
- How we express ourselves
- How the world works
- How we organise ourselves
- Sharing the planet
What I Like the Most About Going to School
“My name is Danishmand Abedin Reeshad, and I am a Grade 5 student at the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka. What I like most about coming to school is that every day feels exciting and full of new things to learn and do. I love spending time with my friends – we play together during breaks, share ideas in class and help each other with schoolwork. My favourite subject is maths because I enjoy solving problems and discovering new ways to think. I also love taking part in the athletics programme, where I get to run, jump and challenge myself to do better each time. School makes me happy because it’s a place where I can learn, play and grow while being surrounded by friends and teachers who always support me.”
