The Aga Khan Academy Dhaka welcomed 17 alumni from The Aga Khan School, Dhaka for an engaging Open House session. Formerly a teacher at Maple Leaf International School, Mahmuda Aktar brings her passion for empathy-driven education to the Academy. She strives to help students become more understanding, respectful and globally minded. For Mahmuda, her classroom—filled with vibrant discussions and curious learners—is the heart of her teaching journey at the Academy.

From her first day at the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa to becoming a professional chef, Qamili Dave’s journey is rooted in curiosity and confidence. Her internship at Serena Beach Hotel ignited her passion for culinary arts, leading her to excel in hospitality studies and explore global cuisines – all while embodying the Academy’s spirit of excellence and lifelong learning.

Lilian Odera has a passion for actively being involved in community-based initiatives to influence change. She also enjoys creatively finding solutions to issues in whatever way she can.

A graduate of the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, Raghuveer Vyas turned his passion for global development into action. At New York University, he led the UN Initiative and worked with Climate Analytics to advance climate resilience projects in Africa and the Caribbean. His work reflects the Academy’s vision of preparing ethical leaders dedicated to social justice, sustainability and positive global impact.

A graduate of the Aga Khan Academy Mombasa, Edgar Wangira is pursuing Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Central Asia to address global climate challenges. Passionate about safeguarding Kenya’s environment, he credits the Academy’s focus on ethics, pluralism and leadership for shaping his sense of purpose and inspiring his commitment to sustainability.

A Kluge Scholar at Columbia University, Alqaim Lalani embodies the Academy’s vision of ethical leadership and service. His initiative Tumaini La Maisha supports children battling cancer across East Africa through creative fundraising and awareness. Guided by the Academy’s values of pluralism and compassion, Alqaim continues to use knowledge as a force for social good.

With extensive experience at organisations such as Transparency International Bangladesh and the International Rice Research Institute, Abdullah Al Jaber brings strong financial leadership to the Academy. Dedicated to promoting efficiency, transparency and discipline, he ensures smooth financial operations that support both staff and students – while also embracing campus life through his love for sports at the Maidan.
